SECOND STOREY PARENTS RETREAT.

With the children growing up fast, this Floreat home required some much-needed additional space. Therefore, a second storey parents retreat was added to the existing home. This included a large light filled master bedroom, luxury ensuite, sleek walk-in robe, separate living area and an office with space for two with raking ceilings.

The clients wanted to ensure the new second storey looked as if it had always been there. To achieve this, the same neutral colour palette was maintained inside and out to create a seamless second storey addition. A re-roof in Colourbond further improved the look of this home, whilst also tying in the old and new. A large Velux window was installed above the staircase to allow additional light to flood into, not only the second storey, but the ground floor through the floating staircase.

The clients choose to honour the homes original Jarrah flooring by continuing this in the new upstairs living and office areas. The final piece of the puzzle was a statement piece floating Jarrah staircase on a black steel spine with glass and back steel balustrading, to bridge the gap between old and new.
